Nehemiah's Temple Church History

In 2009, Pastor Jones was sent by God to start a ministry in the eastern Suburbs of Detroit. With the full support of Bishop Gates, Pastor Jones, supported by his dutiful wife Lady Shayla R. Jones, founded Nehemiah’s Temple of the Apostolic Faith September 20, 2009 at 4250 E. 11 Mile Rd in Warren, MI. The name Nehemiah was selected in honor of Bishop Nemiah Smith where Pastor Jones served as his Associate Pastor at Greater Apostolic Faith Temple (GAFT) and because the bible describes Nehemiah as a builder and rebuilder. Armed with the mantra “Come as you are and Change as you Come”, Pastor Jones and the faithful leaders and minister seek to build and or rebuild lives for the kingdom.

In February 2012, after 3 years of ministry, Nehemiah’s Temple was blessed to purchase its own property located at 25130 Lorraine Ave. in Warren, Michigan. In August 2019, because of the growth of the ministry, Nehemiah’s Temple was blessed to purchase a larger property and relocated to 27303 Palmer Street in Madison Heights, Michigan. Pastor Jones, and the Nehemiah’s Temple congregation is excited about what God has planned for the ministry next.

Our Mission

The purpose of our ministry is summed up in Colossians 1:28: “Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”

We are Apostolic

What does it mean to be Apostolic?

Apostolic refers to the faith, teaching or practice of the Apostles. The Apostles were there with Jesus and taught by him (Luke 24:45). Today, we are believers in Jesus because of the word of the Apostles (John 17:20).

We are Apostolic first because Apostolics believe the whole Bible and accept nothing but the Bible as their guide in matters of faith and practice (John 14:20; I Corinthians 2:9-13; Luke 6:46; II Timothy 3:15-17; Acts 2:4,38)
We are Apostolic because Apostolics believe in one God, one Lord, one faith, and one Baptism; that water Baptism in the name of Jesus, and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit constitutes the one Baptism (Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:5).
We are Apostolic because Apostolics believe Salvation is an act of God (John 1:12-13; Luke 19:15), and the response of man (Acts 2:38; 5:32); and that we are saved by grace through faith, (Ephesians 2:8-9), and good works must follow the new life (Ephesians 4:22-24; Titus 3:8).
We are Apostolic because Apostolics believe in a regenerated, Holy Ghost filled membership (John 3:3; Acts 2:38; I Corinthians 12:13; Titus 3:5).

Beliefs

Living like Christ

As Christians, God expects us to be faithful in our walk with Him. Our walk with God includes being faithful in attending church, giving, witnessing, and ministering. We also have a daily responsibility to praise and worship God, and resist temptation so that we won’t fall into sin. Perfecting our walk with God is a lifetime commitment.

Righteousness

We believe in living a holy, consecrated, and sanctified life by the power of God. In doing so, we are preparing for the imminent return of Jesus Christ, and in the translation of the saints (Rapture) according to Thessalonians 4:13—17.

The Authority and Power of the Bible

The Bible is the inspired inerrant Word of God. We believe in the virgin birth, the life, death and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. We also believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of the Father and that it is through him that all men have access to salvation.

Water and Spirit Baptism

We believe in the necessity of water baptism in Jesus’ name according to Acts 2:38, and the in-filling of the holy spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues according to Acts 2:4. This constitutes the new birth spoken of by the Lord Jesus Christ in John 3:5.
